Location
Qatar (onshore and offshore rotation)


Overview


We are supporting a major energy project in Qatar and are seeking an experienced Operations Multi Technician with strong Electrical and Instrumentation (E and I) capability to support construction, commissioning, and start-up activities.


This is a hands-on field-based role working closely with start-up and commissioning teams during onshore yard activities and offshore hook-up, commissioning, and start-up phases. The position plays a key role in preparing new facilities for safe start-up and first production.


Key Responsibilities


During construction, commissioning, and start-up phases, the Operations Multi Technician will:


  • Support start-up supervision during operational testing and commissioning activities


  • Witness and assist with execution of operational test procedures


  • Participate in leak testing, functional testing, and system commissioning


  • Assist with preparation and execution of start-up and operating procedures


  • Support commissioning and start-up activities both onshore and offshore


  • Work closely with operations and commissioning teams to prepare facilities for start-up


  • Ensure operational teams are familiar with procedures, systems, and start-up sequences


  • Support preparation of temporary configurations, isolations, and spading plans


  • Participate in risk assessments, start-up meetings, and permit to work activities


  • Coordinate with vendors involved in start-up activities


  • Prepare first fill and start-up operations with commissioning teams


  • Identify and verify critical valves and boundaries for testing and commissioning


  • Review and follow up on punch list items as required


  • Maintain and update red-line marked P and ID drawings during commissioning


  • Support hazard identification, job safety analysis, and pre-start-up safety reviews


  • Promote safe working practices and report unsafe conditions or anomalies


  • Assist with mechanical isolations, de-isolations, and draining activities


  • Maintain signage, barriers, and safe access routes during SIMOPS


  • Support emergency response and crisis response activities when required


Work Pattern and Environment


  • Full-time onshore work during yard construction and commissioning


  • Offshore rotation during hook-up, commissioning, and start-up phases


  • Offshore rotation is 28 days on / 28 days off


  • Travel between sites is required


  • Role transitions to offshore operations following project completion


Qualifications and Experience


  • Technical diploma or equivalent qualification


  • Minimum 5 years experience in oil and gas production operations


  • Previous offshore operational experience preferred


  • Experience in commissioning and start-up activities is highly desirable


  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team


  • Strong sense of operational responsibility and safety awareness


  • Willingness to work extended and flexible shifts


  • Fluent in written and spoken English


  • Computer literate


Technical Skills - Instrumentation


  • Strong knowledge of instrumentation and measurement principles


  • Experience with safety systems including ESD and Fire and Gas


  • Experience using field calibration equipment and test tools


  • Knowledge of hazardous area philosophies and practices


  • CompEx Ex 1 to 4 certification


  • Small bore tubing experience and certification preferred


  • Production operations experience advantageous


Technical Skills - Electrical


  • Strong knowledge of HV and LV electrical systems


  • Experience with generators, motors, switchgear, and associated equipment


  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings


  • Knowledge of hazardous area philosophies and practices


  • CompEx Ex 1 to 4 certification


  • Production operations experience advantageous


Certifications


  • Offshore safety and survival training


  • H2S training


  • Permit to Work and job safety analysis training


  • Confined space entry and gas testing


  • Lifting and rigging and manual handling awareness


  • Radiation protection and energy isolation awareness
