The successful candidate should demonstrate strong technical expertise and enthusiasm for providing hands-on instruction and support to students in electrical and electronics engineering laboratories. The candidate will be responsible for guiding students through experimental design, setup, analysis, and troubleshooting while ensuring the safe and efficient use of laboratory hardware and software. Furthermore, they are expected to contribute to laboratory development, equipment management, and to uphold the department’s commitment to excellence in teaching and service while fostering an inclusive and collaborative academic environment.

Job Duties and responsibilities:

  •  Collaborate with faculty members to prepare and deliver lectures, workshops, and lab sessions on key electrical and electronics engineering topics, with a focus on practical applications and hands-on instruction.
  • Provide direct assistance to students during lab sessions, guiding them through experimental design, setup, implementation, and the use of simulation tools such as Multisim, Proteus, PSpice, MATLAB, Simulink, LabVIEW, PowerWorld, TIA Portal, or similar platforms.
  •  Supervise students during laboratory sessions to ensure compliance with safety standards and best practices while working with laboratory equipment and instruments such as oscilloscopes, function generators, power analyzers, and machine test benches.
  • Assist students in designing course projects and senior projects by providing technical guidance, prototyping support, and troubleshooting assistance.
  • Assist in the setup of the lab (before sessions), calibration, and maintenance of laboratory equipment to ensure the smooth operation of experiments and practical sessions.
  • Contribute to the development of lab manuals, assignments, and assessments that incorporate practical exercises.
  • Assist in grading lab reports, assignments, projects, and examinations, providing constructive feedback to help students enhance their technical skills and conceptual understanding.
  • Maintain inventory records of lab hardware, consumables, and spare parts.
  • Assist in material acquisition planning, budgeting, and procurement of consumables, new laboratory equipment, and software licenses.
  • Assist with departmental accreditation requirements by maintaining proper documentation of experiments, equipment usage, and student learning outcomes.
  • Assist the department in setting up lab demonstrations, seminars, workshops, senior project exhibitions, career fairs, or any related activities.
  • Stay updated on recent advancements in electrical engineering, including emerging trends in smart grids, IOT, industrial automation, and sustainable energy technologies.
  • Support departmental committees and initiatives, contributing to equipment planning and the selection of appropriate lab tools and teaching technologies.
  Qualifications & Required Skills
  • Education: Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field is required.
  • Technical Expertise: Demonstrated proficiency in key areas of electrical and electronics engineering including digital systems, circuit analysis, electronics, embedded systems, industrial automation, electrical machines, power systems, power electronics, instrumentation and control systems, and PLCs.
  • Experience: Preferably one to two years of academic or industry experience. Work experience in the GCC is desirable but not mandatory.
  • Soft Skills: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate in a multidisciplinary academic environment while promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Communication: Ability to communicate effectively in both Arabic and English.
