We are working with a forward-thinking client, taking Hotel Design and Construction to the next level of technical specification and sustainability while still ensuring the developments are stunning. To support their on-going growth we are looking for a qualified Architect to join the team based in GCC as they embark on a number of very exciting and large scale projects.
Ideally the incoming Architect will have a number of years experience across hotel development specifically. They will have a good grasp of modern methods of construction and excellent technical design skills. This is a juicy and multi-faceted role which will require skills and experience across each phase of design and build.
Main responsibilities
- Assist Executive Director in establishing hotel vision and strategy for new masterplan projects.
- Working with the Construction and Project team to determine the technical suitability of sites
- Provide technical inputs to hotel development team on design vision, project positioning, scope requirements, and project schedules for initial planning.
- Ensures that the design aspects of the proposed masterplan, phases and individual assets meets Hotels business vision and strategy.
- Participate and direct consultants through concept design, schematic design, design development, construction documents, and post-opening deficiency phase.
- Assists in the selection of all consultants and reviews their description of scope of services.
- Meets with consultants to review the design brief and operating criteria & design standards.
- Review consultant’s responsibilities, budget controls and reporting functions.
- Provides detailed direction to the specialist consultants - kitchen and laundry designers, IT, audio visual, acoustic, lighting, landscaping, etc.
- Prepares the delivery strategy of the hotel developments, coordinates with and integrates the input from other support functions; technical, legal, finance, market research, sales, and marketing and operations, to deliver the project development plan.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Interior Design
- Professional licensing (NCARB, AIA, RIBA).
- LEED Accredited or other sustainability certifications are strongly encouraged.
- Experience with international operator, and developer experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of hotel operations including Front of House and Back of House planning.
- Must have extensive knowledge of hospitality design and processes required to assist in contract negotiations, oversee design development, ensure construction is in line with brand standards.
- Highly Skilled with technical software (AutoCAD, Microsoft Project, Primavera, MS Suite, etc.)
- Proven track record in delivery of hotel projects.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Ability to think cross-functionally to assist construction team members.
- Positive and agile personality with an ability to work in a dynamic environment.
- Professional proficiency in English (written and verbal)
