BASIC SKILLS TRAINING (BST) INSTRUCTOR - SEAMANSHIP
Grade: 6 Location: Dhahran, Saudi Arabia
JOB PURPOSE BAE Systems is the UK Government’s nominated Prime Contractor under the Government-to-Government arrangements that are in place to provide equipment, support and training to Saudi Arabia. We provide maintenance of Royal Naval Forces ships and train RSNF personnel safely in a training environment in how to use their ships and equipment.
The purpose of this job is to ensure that the highest training standards in seamanship are delivered and maintained at the Technical Institute of Naval Studies (TINS).
JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES The post holder is responsible for:
Delivering NTT Basic Skills Training curriculum.
Supporting invigilation activities for assessments.
Supporting remedial training activities.
Writing assessment materials.
Supporting the continuous improvement of courseware materials and media.
Writing cadet reports as required to meet customer requirements.
The safe and correct rigging of all training equipment.
Maintaining all training aids as directed by the BST Senior Instructor (S).
Assisting in Sea Sense training activities when required.
Assisting in waterborne training at the Marina Training Facility when required.
The post holder will be expected to operate to a standard of absolute integrity and professionalism.
The post holder will ensure the completion of any other reasonable request by their line manager, which aligns with Company business.
RECRUITMENT SPECIFICATION
The post holder must:
Have demonstrable evidence of having completed an Instructional Techniques course such or similar to the Defence Systems Approach to Training (DSAT) or Defence Train the Trainer (DTTT) course.
Have demonstrable evidence of deck seamanship and navigational training/instruction,
Be a graduate of an advanced military trade school or an industry equivalent,
Demonstrate extensive practical experience in one of the below trades:
o Deck Seamanship,
o Seamanship Specialist,
o Quartermaster,
o Boatswains Mate,
Have recent instructional experience within the specified technical field of practical seamanship.
