Job description

The role holder is responsible for all flat block assembly work and related activities are executed safely, effectively, and efficiently in accordance with applicable technical specifications, company policies, procedures, and work instructions. It is also required to perform flat block assembly management in accordance with documented plans and requirement for projects and continually improve flat block assembly productivity.


1. Ensure all assigned works are executed safely on time.


2. Ensure that all technical drawings and documentation are followed.


3. Determine the appropriate equipment or method based on requirements.


4. Secure a valid work permit (Hot/Cold/Isolation, etc.) before initiating any activity.


5. Attend safety and daily toolbox meetings and under the risk involved with the job.


6. Perform the task according to the specific codes and follow the drawings.


7. Monitor amount use of materials to identify possible shortages and address at the earliest possible opportunity.


8. Ability to follow and examine finished work and ensure it meet standards of IMI quality.


9. Inspect the equipment and tools t o b e u s e d b e f o r e and during work and maintain equipment in good condition.


10. Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental and Security (HSES) responsibilities.


Education: High School or technical certifications or vocational training in welding processes (preferred).


Experience:  At least 12 years’ experience in Offshore Shipyard/Ship repair Industry.


Competencies:  Ability to perform manual welding (2G, 3G, 4G) and automatic welding.


 Knowledge of welding machine functions and theory.


 Ability to read and understand ship design drawings.


 Knowledge of relative safety standards and protective equipment use.


 Understanding of welding equipment operation.


 Collaboration with other departments, such as production planning and quality control, to ensure smooth workflow and timely project completion.


 Ability to use basic computer operating systems.


 Ability to identify areas for skill improvement and provide coaching as needed.


 Ability to create accurate documentation, including inspection reports and project progress reports.


 Enforce safety protocols and practices to create a safe work environment for all team members.


 Excellent technical knowledge and problem‐solving skills, including the ability to resolve welding‐related issues.


 Ability to demonstrate attention to detail and a commitment to quality control and assurance.
