Your Department:
The Solution Engineering department is responsible to develop a winning commercial proposal, in close cooperation with the Sales Management department during the sales phase, and to successfully implement the as sold total solution with the Project Execution department. The department consists of a wide range of expertise to enable the design and sell a total solution towards customers and to execute these designs when awarded.
Key of the Solution Engineering department is one responsibility to sell and execute a total solution within one team, without critical interfaces to other departments.
Your position:
As a Mechanical Project Engineer - APS Solution Engineering ME, you will closely work with Project Leader, Integration Manager, Electrical and Controls Engineers as a part of a multidisciplinary team of Engineers. You will manage technical solution pertinent to Mechanical design and support sales in bid and contract phase. During execution phase you will work towards the successful completion of one or more projects in an international environment.
Tasks and responsibilities:
Translate and optimize the as sold functionality to a working mechanical design within the budget available in co-operation with other disciplines
Is a sparring-partner for sales engineering during the sell phase and PLE for execution phase.
Integrate design rules for safety and ergonomics in design.
Realize a working mechanical Layout design. Deliver a good quality system layout on time.
Complete the 3D design from sketch and deliver mechanical design baseline for customer approval
Responsible for project related documentation. [Specifications, Lay-outs, Conveyor List, etc.]
Is responsible for drawing up specifications of the mechanical equipment for production, procurement and for special equipment.
Create / generate the equipment list as input for other engineering teams.
Create the Bill of Material, and ensure that your Supply Chain colleagues can deliver on time as customer requirements.
Deliver scope with predictable quality in time and within budget.
Is responsible for a complete and clear installation file and engineering instructions to supervisor and installation subcontractor.
Support the installation and commissioning activities (either remote or on-site)
Solve any issues that you encounter, either during engineering or installation/commissioning phase of the project.
Initiate improvements in content, process and tooling.
Your profile:
A technical degree (Mechanical Engineering) at least at bachelor level
Previous experience of material handling domain will be an added advantage
Desired experience level: 8 years and above in Project engineering environment (system integration, solution design, project delivery)
Understand project life cycle and is able to estimate, plan and control scope of work
Knowledge of design practices and qualification requirements. Is able to comply with the legal safety guidelines during installation, operation and maintenance
Has very good Mechanical engineering knowledge and practical hands-on experience in mechanical equipment
Has working knowledge of steelwork design requirements
Familiarity with design safety. Able to perform health, safety and risk analysis (HSRA) on component.
Proficient in 3D modelling and in (standard and VI custom) CAD software (e.g. Auto CAD, Navis Works, Revit, Building Information Modelling - BIM).
Has knowledge of industrial automation, Electromechanical components, cabinets and field wiring etc.
Communicating with regular progress reports, aware of Earned Value Management, managing deadlines and milestones
Feeds back lessons learned from the project into product, process and tooling
Has experience of working with Cross Functional, diverse and global teams
Strong analytical skills
Proactive, flexible, pragmatic and hands on attitude.
Ability to adapt to change with ease, capable of multi-tasking and can manage a variety of complicated tasks.
Wiling to go extra miles to develop Mechanical Engineering competency in the department.
Excellent verbal and written skills in English.
