Job Purpose:

The Superintendent Granulation ISBL will oversee all construction activities related to the granulation unit inside the battery limits (ISBL) of a manufacturing or processing plant. This includes managing the installation, commissioning, and integration of the granulation system, ensuring adherence to safety standards, quality specifications, and the project's schedule and budget. The role requires close collaboration with other engineering, construction, and operations teams to successfully complete the granulation unit's construction and start-up.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Project Supervision:

    • Supervise and manage all aspects of the construction of the granulation unit inside the battery limits (ISBL) from start to completion.
    • Coordinate day-to-day construction activities for the granulation system, ensuring that work is carried out according to the approved design, specifications, and schedule.
    • Oversee the work of construction crews, subcontractors, and vendors on-site, ensuring effective utilization of resources and compliance with project timelines.
  2. Safety and Compliance:

    • Ensure that all construction activities related to the granulation unit are carried out in full compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.
    • Actively promote a safety-first culture on-site, conducting regular safety briefings, toolbox talks, and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure prompt corrective actions.
    • Monitor adherence to Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) guidelines, ensuring a safe and compliant work environment for all team members.
  3. Quality Assurance:

    • Implement and enforce quality control procedures to ensure all work is executed to the required specifications and industry standards.
    • Conduct inspections and audits to verify the quality of construction materials, installations, and equipment related to the granulation unit.
    • Ensure that any defects or non-conformities are addressed in a timely and efficient manner.
  4. Team Leadership and Coordination:

    • Lead, mentor, and manage construction teams, subcontractors, and vendors working on the granulation unit's ISBL construction.
    • Coordinate and liaise with engineers, project managers, and other construction staff to ensure smooth integration of the granulation unit into the overall plant design.
    • Resolve any technical or logistical issues that may arise during the construction phase, ensuring minimal impact on project timelines and cost.
  5. Resource Management:

    • Oversee the management of construction materials, tools, and equipment, ensuring they are properly stored, handled, and used efficiently.
    • Coordinate the procurement and delivery of materials to ensure they arrive on-site as needed, preventing delays in construction progress.
    • Ensure effective scheduling of labor resources, materials, and equipment to optimize productivity and minimize downtime.
  6. Progress Monitoring and Reporting:

    • Track the progress of the granulation ISBL construction against the project schedule and milestones.
    • Provide regular updates to the Project Manager and other key stakeholders on project status, potential risks, delays, and corrective actions taken.
    • Prepare and maintain detailed records of daily activities, issues, and resolution actions.
  7. Commissioning Support:

    • Coordinate with commissioning teams to ensure a smooth transition from construction to operational readiness for the granulation unit.
    • Support the commissioning process by ensuring that all necessary documentation, tests, and checks are completed in line with the project specifications.
    • Resolve any construction-related issues that arise during the commissioning phase and ensure that all systems are fully integrated and operational.
  8. Cost and Schedule Control:

    • Monitor and manage the project budget, identifying any variances or cost overruns, and taking corrective action when necessary.
    • Ensure that the granulation unit's ISBL construction is completed on time and within budget.
    • Prepare and approve project invoices, material requests, and other cost-related documentation.
  9. Documentation and Reporting:

    • Ensure that all construction-related documentation (drawings, permits, material certifications, progress reports, etc.) is properly managed, maintained, and archived.
    • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of all aspects of the granulation ISBL construction to senior management and project stakeholders.
Qualifications:
  • Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
    • Additional certifications in project management, construction management, or safety (e.g., PMP, NEBOSH, OSHA) are advantageous.
  • Experience:

    • Experience in construction management or supervision.
    • Proven experience in the construction of ISBL (Inside Battery Limits) units, particularly in granulation or similar processing systems.
    • Experience with large-scale, complex construction projects.
  • Skills and Competencies:

    • Strong understanding of granulation processes and related equipment (e.g., granulators, dryers, conveyors).
    • In-depth knowledge of construction methodologies, materials, and safety standards.
    • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
    • Ability to manage complex schedules, budgets, and resource allocation effectively.
