The Supervisor, Mechanical, is responsible for the activities relating to the Mechanical workshop for ships/rigs or other related structures.
Supervise all related activities whether in the workshop, or onboard, or other areas that relative work is ongoing and ensures that works are carried out safely and on time, according to project contractual obligations.
The supervisor is responsible for delivering the work safely, on time, to the client’s satisfaction and in accordance with the project contractual obligations and International Maritime Industries Management System (IMIMS)
The role involves working closely with the Mechanical Superintendent, Mechanical Workshop Senior Superintendents, Project Managers, QC, Safety and the Production teams or other internal departments as required.
Ensures efficiency and proper housekeeping in workshop and/or onboard.
Solution orientation and doing it right the first-time mindset is a must, with a proactive approach of solving issues before they become problems.
3. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Adhere to, reinforces, and promotes IMI Health, Safety, Environment and Quality Policies.
Ensure that all mechanical activities are meticulously planned and executed.
Attend the daily departmental meeting/s to update the Mechanical Superintendent regarding the
project’s progress status and any serious matters in terms of equipment & tools, consumables, and lack of resources preventing the department section from achieving the projects deadline. Receive and follow the instructions from the Mechanical Supt. regarding priority of the works.
Hold daily meetings/ toolbox with the mechanical teams as required, work on the right priorities, check the physical progress of the work, provide technical advice.
Supervise foremen, charge-hands, tradesmen and subcontractors.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Ensure issuance of PTW (permit to work) associated with JSA and TRA preparation.
Provide sound and good knowledge on various mechanical and repair work at workshops and/or
onboard
Ensure all repairs and maintenance work meets required quality standards and regulatory
requirements.
Ensure that all production/project materials are used as defined in procedures and manufacturer’s
recommendations.
Ensure effective and consistent interaction with other production supervisors as required.
Book the correct hours/timesheets to the right project orders numbers and job numbers for project
cost capturing and cost control.
Facilitate training and development of related personnel, conduct a trade test whenever it is
necessary.
Visit regularly project work whether in workshops, onboard, in docks, or other open areas where
related activities are taking place to check on progress and give technical advice. Ensure all control
measures are in place for safety, environmental aspects and housekeeping.
Identify the nature of repairs through consultation with stakeholders. Discuss ways and methods of
carrying out jobs, attend class inspections and clear any arising points.
Ensure that all installation, maintenance and commissioning activities are carried out in accordance
with approved procedures.
Strong involvement in daily/weekly progress reporting and is he responsible for ensuring that
supervision gather accurate physical progress
Perform other relevant tasks as requested by line management
