We are looking for an Head of Container Operations to join our team in Kocaeli, Türkiye.
Your Responsibilities:
- To be responsible for all operational activities including vessel, berth, yard, gate and Interfaces;
- Ensure that manpower arrangements fully support the Terminal;
- Optimising the utilisation of equipment deployed for Korfez;
- Ensuring that the Terminal achieves design productivity commitments;
- By meeting customers and working closely with the Commercial Team obtain an understanding of customer requirements and manage the resourcing program to ensure that the appropriate skills are deployed in optimal numbers to meet agreed service objectives.
- Set targets objectives and reporting mechanisms for all operations to be monitored;
- Ensure the Terminal meets its’ obligations within the service level agreements;
- Engage and promote the Korfez culture and working environment that will keep high motivation levels amongst the staff;
- Maintain good communications at all levels within the Operations Department and with other departments;
- Develop effective and sound working relationships with relevant service providers;
- Direct and drive performance management culture within the team ensuring that staff meet their targets in line with the business needs;
- Lead, manage and motivate team in line HR policies and procedures to ensure they deliver services in line with expectations;
- Coach the team to improve their skills and knowledge and help them work efficiently and effectively and to manage future Operations team succession planning;
- Selects and assigns staff, ensuring equal employment opportunities in recruitment, training and promotions.
- Contribute to the continuous business improvement process and to the meeting of business objectives;
- To be an ambassador for the company at all times internally and externally;
- The above outlined responsibilities are not exhaustive and you may be required to carry out other tasks that are appropriate to your role in addition to these.
Your Profile:
- Degree qualified. Postgraduate in either MBA or Operations Management would be a bonus. However neither is essential, as ability to show achievements / experience of managing a similar operation is key criteria;
- Diploma in Port Management desirable.
- Experience and maturity for Ports&Terminal Management.
- Have detailed knowledge of Container Terminal and Freight Industry Operations (>10 years.)
- Fluent language skills Turkish and English.
- Having problem-solving, organizational and communication skills,
- Proven ability to lead and manage a team,
- Able to work in a high-pressure environment and calmly priorities and manage a large workload,
- Proven commitment and reliable work history,
- Have a class B driver's license,
- Willingness to work in Kocaeli,
