Job description

Arcadis is the world's leading company delivering sustainable design, engineering, and consultancy solutions for natural and built assets.
We are more than 36,000 people, in over 70 countries, dedicated to improving quality of life.
Everyone has an important role to play.
With the power of many curious minds, together we can solve the world’s most complex challenges and deliver more impact together.
Role description: Arcadis is excited to offer a unique opportunity for a Site Engineer (Structures & Bridges) to support the Fraser River Tunnel Project (FRTP) during construction—a landmark, multi-billion-dollar initiative replacing the George Massey Tunnel with an eight-lane Immersed Tube Tunnel.
In this pivotal role, you will serve as the primary on-site technical authority for both permanent and temporary concrete and steel structures, ensuring contractor work aligns with Progressive Design-Build specifications, with a particular focus on seismic resilience and marine structural integrity.
This position offers the chance to contribute to a transformative infrastructure project while working alongside industry leaders committed to innovation, safety, and sustainability.
Role accountabilities: Reporting to and working in conjunction with the Senior Site Engineer, Structures & Bridges, you will play a critical role in the successful delivery of the Fraser River Tunnel Project.
In this role, you will supervise the construction of the new Deas Slough Bridge as well as the tunnel’s north and south portal structures, ensuring all activities are executed safely and in compliance with project specifications.
You will provide hands-on technical site support at the Deas Island casting basin, where six massive Immersed Tube Tunnel (ITT) elements are being fabricated.
Your responsibilities will include verifying that all structural reinforcements and connections meet the project’s stringent “lifeline structure” seismic standards, ensuring every element is constructed in accordance with design requirements, codes, and industry best practices.
In addition, you will oversee the installation of critical temporary works such as trestles, cofferdams, and sophisticated launching systems necessary for moving tunnel elements into position.
You will work closely with Geotechnical and Hydrotechnical engineers to manage soil-structure interactions and riverbed stability, ensuring seamless coordination during the placement of structural components.
Finally, you will be responsible for contract administration tasks, including reviewing Requests for Information (RFIs), Field Changes, and progress claims.
Your diligence will help ensure technical compliance, timely issue resolution, and strict adherence to budget requirements throughout the construction process.
Qualifications & Experience: Education:  Bachelor’s degree in civil or Structural Engineering (College Diploma (3-4 year) with extensive experience can be considered) Professional Designation:   Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.
Eng.) with EGBC (Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia).
Registered Certified Engineering Technologist in case of College Diploma.
Experience:  5–10 years of experience in heavy civil infrastructure, specifically in: Bridge Construction:  Experience with steel box girders or prestressed concrete.
Marine Engineering:  Familiarity with underwater concrete placement or immersed tube technology will be an asset.
Software Proficiency:  Experience with BIM/Digital Delivery tools (AutoCAD, Navisworks) for real-time site coordination.
