About the job HSE ENGINEER

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:


The purpose of the job of an HSE Engineer is to ensure the health, safety, and environmental (HSE) compliance of an organizations operations, projects, and workforce. Their primary goal is to prevent workplace accidents, injuries, and environmental harm while fostering a safe and sustainable work environment.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Develop, implement, and maintain HSE policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and client requirements.
  • Conduct risk assessments and hazard identification to mitigate potential safety and environmental risks.
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with Abu Dhabi HSE legislation, codes of practice, and guidelines, including those of the Abu Dhabi Public Health Center.
  • Coordinate and conduct HSE audits, inspections, and incident investigations to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
  • Provide HSE training and awareness programs to employees and contractors to promote a culture of safety.
  • Prepare and submit HSE documentation, reports, and analysis to clients, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies, clients, and contractors to ensure HSE compliance and resolve issues.
  • Collaborate with project teams to integrate HSE requirements into project planning and execution.
  • Stay updated on changes in UAE HSE legislation and industry standards and ensure their implementation.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • NEBOSH Level 6 Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 10 years in the HSE field, with at least 8 years in utility-related projects or similar industries.
  • Experience in Construction Supervision, including pipelines, pumping stations, water transmission, rehabilitation of waste water networks.
  • Thorough understanding of Abu Dhabi HSE legislation, codes of practice, and Abu Dhabi Public Health Center Practitioner course requirements.
  • Familiarity with obtaining client approvals from Abu Dhabi entities such as TAQA.
  • Expertise in HSE management systems, risk assessment methodologies, and incident investigation techniques.
  • UAE driving license is mandatory.
  • Willingness to work in both Dubai and Abu Dhabi as per project requirements.
  • Previous approval from Abu Dhabi clients such as TAQA is highly desirable.
