About the job INSTALLATION, TESTING AND COMMISSIONING - GIS ENGINEER

The GIS Engineer shall be responsible for installation, testing, commissioning, and energization support of GIS equipment in line with TAQA and OEM requirements.


Job Responsibilities


  • Supervise GIS installation, assembly, and alignment works
  • Ensure SF gas handling, filling, and monitoring as per standards
  • Conduct and witness GIS testing including: Mechanical & Functional Tests, HV / PD tests (as applicable), Gas tightness checks
  • Review OEM procedures, drawings, and ITPs
  • Coordinate with OEM specialists and TAQA inspectors
  • Prepare commissioning records, test reports, and final dossiers
  • Support energization and defect rectification

Key Qualifications:


  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • TAQA Competent Person Certification – Mandatory
  • Minimum 7–10 years experience in GIS installation & commissioning
  • Strong knowledge of IEC standards and OEM practices
  • Experience with 132kV / 220kV GIS preferred
