Job Title Lead Mechanical Engineer Reporting To Head of Engineering Design Function / Department Project Engineering & Innovation (Product Development & Engineering) Position Type Regular / Full-Time Job Purpose Provide advanced mechanical engineering expertise, leadership, and technical direction to ensure safe, reliable, efficient, and fit-for-purpose designs. The Lead Mechanical Engineer leads complex engineering analyses, supports project teams and clients, drives reliability improvements, and ensures compliance with applicable engineering standards, regulatory requirements, and global mechanical engineering best practices across all project phases. Key Accountabilities Lead and supervise mechanical engineering activities, ensuring adherence to internal engineering standards and high technical quality. Develop, review, and approve mechanical engineering deliverables including equipment specifications, datasheets, bills of materials (BOMs), mechanical drawings, and design calculations. Provide expert-level troubleshooting support for mechanical equipment failures, chronic issues, and performance deviations throughout all project stages. Lead reliability initiatives such as root cause analysis (RCA), bad-actor elimination, and long-term asset improvement programs. Conduct and lead mechanical integrity assessments, fitness-for-service (FFS) evaluations, and risk-based inspection (RBI) studies. Oversee maintenance strategies for critical rotating and static equipment to ensure optimal performance and extended equipment life. Support project development and execution activities including scope definition, design reviews, technical evaluations, FAT/SAT, commissioning, and startup. Mentor and coach junior mechanical engineers to build and sustain technical capability within the team. Ensure compliance with relevant international codes and standards (API, ASME, ISO, ASTM, etc.). Collaborate closely with Operations, Maintenance, Projects, and HSE teams to ensure safe and efficient execution of mechanical-related activities. Prepare high-quality technical reports, recommendations, and engineering assessments to support management decision-making. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s degree is an advantage). Professional Engineering registration or certification (or progress toward it) is desirable.
