Wood is currently recruiting for an experienced PMC Lead Pipeline Engineer based in Abu Dhabi to support ADNOC offshore project within our Oil, Gas & New Energies business. Due to the nature of the projects and client expectation, the position will be based at client office in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Responsibilities:

The key objectives for this role are:


  • Lead and oversee the design, engineering, and technical assurance of onshore and offshore pipeline systems in compliance with applicable international codes and standards.
  • Ensure delivery of safe, reliable, and cost‑effective pipeline designs aligned with project and client requirements.
  • Review, approve, and take ownership of key engineering deliverables including pipeline routing, alignment sheets, stress analysis, hydraulics, materials, and specifications.
  • Manage pipeline engineering scope to meet project schedules, budgets, and quality expectations.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to pipeline engineers and designers, ensuring consistency and accuracy across deliverables.
  • Identify engineering risks early and implement effective mitigation measures.
  • Integrate HSE and pipeline integrity principles into all stages of design and execution.
  • Lead and participate in technical reviews, HAZID/HAZOP, constructability reviews, and risk assessments.
  • Act as the technical focal point for clients, EPC partners, vendors, and regulatory authorities.
  • Coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary teams including civil, mechanical, procurement, construction, and operations.
  • Support construction, installation, hydrotesting, pre‑commissioning, and commissioning activities by resolving site technical issues.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures, project specifications, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support audits, technical reviews, and regulatory approvals related to pipeline engineering.
  • Drive value engineering, constructability improvements, and cost optimization initiatives.
  • Promote continuous improvement, innovation, and the adoption of best engineering practices and tools.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers, supporting knowledge sharing and capability building within the team.
  • Ensure accurate documentation, change management, and proper archiving of engineering records.

Expected:



  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent from an accredited university with a minimum of fifteen (15+) years of relevant experience in the Offshore/Onshore Oil & Gas industry, including minimum (5) years (preferred) in GCC region 
  • Must have at least five (5) years of experience in similar position in a mega Oil & Gas or Petrochemical projects. Managing team of Specialists, Senior Engineers and Engineers.
  • Offshore experience is must, whilst ADNOC experience is desired
  • PMC experience is required
  • Fully coherent in all international codes and standards
  • Excellent command of both spoken and written English is required
  • Enthusiastic, conscientious and keen to learn / Flexible with a can-do attitude
  • Working hands on Experience on SPEL
  • Must have working knowledge and experience of electrical discipline relevant offshore/onshore oil and gas industry codes, specifications and practices
  • Previous experience of working in the Middle East would be an advantage
