Recipe Developer


Hello Chef is growing fast — expanding our menus, evolving our food offering, and building the systems that bring joyful, reliable cooking experiences to thousands of homes every week. To support this next chapter, we’re looking for a Recipe Developer who can turn great ideas into recipes that strengthen our weekly menus and work at scale.


As part of the Food Team, you’ll create the recipes that shape the Hello Chef product — from the flavours customers enjoy to the confidence they feel cooking at home. You’ll develop dishes that are delicious, practical, and visually appealing, while ensuring each recipe fits into a wider menu, delivers clear customer value, and is operationally sound. You’ll work closely with teams across food, procurement, operations, and marketing to bring recipes from concept to live menus.

Accountabilities


1. Strengthen weekly menu appeal through high-quality recipe development


-Conceptualise, write, test, style, and photograph recipes to a consistently high Hello Chef standard


-Develop recipes that clearly fit the intended weekly menu mix (familiarity, some novelty, clear features, cuisine balance)


-Design recipes that balance ease, reliability, and interest for Hello Chef customers


-Improve recipes based on tastings, feedback, and menu performance signals


2. Build value into recipes through smart design choices


-Develop recipes that support additional value and revenue opportunities


-Design recipes that enable recipe-level customisation where relevant


-Make ingredient and portion choices that clearly justify premium options


-Design recipes that pair naturally with relevant add-ons when applicable


3. Deliver recipes that meet cost and simplify complexity


-Develop recipes that fit within menu-level theoretical food cost targets


-Make ingredient and portion choices that maximise customer value within food cost expectations


-Design recipes with a clear understanding of how ingredient choices affect cost, complexity, and execution
