The post holder will work collaboratively with other team members, uphold and live the NMC Nursing Strategy in order to provide safe and outstanding care to their patient, to the patient's bystanders all the time, every time.
    
 



Responsibilities:

Registered Nurse will: 
•    Be responsible for providing and coordinating patient care, educating patients and the public about various health conditions, and providing advice and emotional support to patients and their family members.
•    Assess and identify patients' needs and implement and monitor the patient's medical plan and treatment. They will work with a team of physicians and other health care specialists or allied health in various settings.
•    Perform systematic patient assessment, re-assessment and collect pertinent data about the patient’s health or situation.
•    Understand and analyse the assessment information and data.
•    Determine actual and potential nursing diagnoses, problems, and issues.
•    Define the predicted and expected outcomes of the patient’s planned care.
•    Create and evaluate patient care plans with the interprofessional team, in collaboration with the patient and patient's bystanders.
•    Record vital signs, recognize, address and escalate all abnormalities.
•    Maintain and update technical and clinical skills related to nursing practice.
•    Employ strategies to promote patients’ health and a safe environment.
•    Understand different diagnostic tests and laboratory examinations.
•    Perform essential life support as per regulatory requirements and scope such as but not limited to Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support etc.
•    Prepare patients for medical examination and treatment. 
•    Administer medications and monitor patients for any side effects and reactions.
•    Administer treatments such as IV fluids or blood products and monitor patients for any reactions. 
•    Provide wound care management.
•    Assist in medical procedures invasive or non-invasive as needed. 
•    Facilitate the process of safe patient`s admission, transfer and discharge.
•    Competent with all the mandatory and unit specific competencies supported and assigned on Elsevier platform to ensure adherence to evidence Based practices.
•    Demonstrate proficiency in emergency procedures, equipment, and protocols relevant to the department.
•    Participate in ongoing programs and certification to support professional growth and maintain clinical competency.
•    Comply with unit Scope of service.
•    Demonstrate on understanding & Utilization of evidence-based health care.
•    Performs all aspects of nursing care for patients who are in surgical ward in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of health care errors.
•    Must have excellent observation skills, able to think critically and to make quick and effective decisions.
•    Perform a head-to-toe assessment and re-assessments on patient as per assessment policy. 
•    Able to perform procedures as per Elsevier Competencies.
•    Competent in all aspects of nursing care. Provide pre-operative, and post-operative care to patients undergoing surgical procedures. Manage wounds and address pain needs.
•    Organize assigned duties
•    Develop, implement and evaluate the care plans.
•    Ability to manage high stress situations with critical thinking and decision making
•    Insert and manage peripheral IV line and assist in managing Central lines e.g. Porta Cath, CVP & PICC line. 
•    Accurately monitor and record patient’s condition
•    Complete and maintain all assigned competencies on the Elsevier platform to ensure adherence to evidence -based practise. 
•    Document on patient record as per current standards and policies.
•    Perform a head-to-toe assessment and re-assessments on patient as per assessment policy
•    Adequately assess and re-assess pain as per Pain Assessment Policy.
•    Participate in ongoing programs an certifications to support professional growth and maintain clinical competency.
•    Perform patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for patient’s age
•    Report any abnormality in patient’s condition immediately to the medical staff and escalate as and when required.
•    Provide age-appropriate care tailored to child’s developmental stage. 
•    Perform thorough assessments of paediatric patients including vital signs, growth parameters and developmental milestones.
•    Document on patient record as per current standards and policies.
•    Assist physician with procedures and performs services requiring technical and manual skills.
•    Perform routine and advanced nursing procedures / Skills
•    Able to function efficiently in patient care within the unit and relieve other nursing units in the hospital if necessary.
•    Ensure all equipment is maintained in good working order, reporting any fault to Nurse Manager/Engineering.



Qualifications:

•    Have an appropriate license to work as a registered nurse in the relevant regulatory health authority with all the qualifications and experience these mandates.
•    Manage their own professional re-licensure.
•    Hold a valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support Provider card. 
•    Be willing to work across departments and on call  when necessary. 
•    Be able to communicate clearly and effectively in English (spoken and written)


DESIRABLE: The post holder should have:
•    Evidenced ability to work as part of an inter-professional team.
•    Organizational and administrative skills with which to use the electronic medical record platform for clinical documentation.
