The Client:


A leading publicly listed food manufacturing and distribution company that has a portfolio of multiple food brands under its umbrella in frozen foods, edible fats & oils, and water & beverages is looking to hire a Research & Development QA Manager (Edible Oils).


Key Responsibilities:


  • Sustain the QHSE standards for raw materials & finished products under national and international food standards.
  • Develop new products, recipes as well as desired variation in current products which maintain industry standards and customer needs.
  • Develop, Implementation and Maintaining of QHSE Management System with Procedures in compliance with local and international standards.

Strategic Accountability:


  • To review all departments' Standard Operating Procedures related to QHSE as well as product standard specification and formulation.
  • To contribute to the development of the QHSE system as per corporate guidelines and assist in their implementation.

Operational Accountability:


  • To monitor all raw materials, food additives, chemical and packaging materials and manage quality checks and store as per the nature of the materials.
  • To review all standard specifications and test procedures of incoming raw, intermediate as well as finished products.
  • To review and approve products as per customer requirements under the national and international food standards.
  • Ensure a high level of hygiene and sanitation as per food safety requirements. To maintain daily product checking (Physical, Chemical & Microbiological) analysis of final products.
  • To manage food ingredients and finished goods analysis in-house and from the external laboratory for verification of quality test.
  • To arrange the testing of competitor products and make comparative reports of finished products.
  • To monitor and arrange internal food safety audits, basic food hygiene training and supplier audits.
  • To evaluate and identify the critical points in the manufacturing process and specify the sampling frequency and procedure for that points.
  • To collect and review the regulatory standards and guidelines of UAE, GCC & other exporting countries.
  • To explore the possibilities of relevant food industry certification like (GMP, GLP, HALAL & Occupational Health and Safety) and implementation.
  • To explore new laboratory and edible oil refining technology.
  • To ensure implementation of the new product development procedures.
  • To develop new products in line with market/customer, regulatory requirements.
  • To provide periodic feedback on vendors and suppliers to purchase managers for vendor up-gradation and certification.
  • To ensure implementation of relevant procedures of inspection, testing, and analysis of - Raw Materials - Packaging Materials - In-Process Materials - Finished Goods - Storage.
  • To ensure the integrity of quality analysis through appropriate analysis training, instrumentation, and testing protocols.
  • To investigate Customer and Consumer complaints to improve the production process, product quality, and functionality.
  • To carry out periodic analysis of effluents and advise on treatment of effluents so that these are well within the prescribed standards of toxicity.
  • Fulfillment of all QHSE requirements set by the local authorities. Implementation of world-class systems including ERP.
  • To be directly accountable for the development of employees reporting to him and the next level.

Requirements:


  • Master's degree in science/Food Technology. 8-10 years of experience in the edible oil industry as QA Manager/R&D Manager Specific Knowledge.
  • Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, Food Safety Management Systems (ISO 22000:2005) certification & implementation requirements.
  • Knowledge of statutory/regulatory QA specifications of the country as well as international Food Standards.
