Job Title: Safety Engineer
Job Summary:
The Safety Engineer is responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring health, safety, and environmental systems on construction projects. The role ensures compliance with statutory regulations, client requirements, and company HSE policies, while proactively identifying and mitigating risks associated with construction activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and implement Project HSE Plans, Risk Assessments, and Method Statements (RAMS).
Ensure full compliance with UAE local authority regulations and project-specific safety requirements.
Conduct regular site inspections, safety audits, and risk assessments.
Review and approve method statements, lifting plans, and safe work procedures.
Monitor high-risk construction activities such as working at height, excavation, lifting operations, hot works, and confined spaces.
Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses; perform root cause analysis and submit reports.
Coordinate with Project Managers, Engineers, Supervisors, and Subcontractors to enforce safe work practices.
Deliver safety inductions, toolbox talks, and HSE training to site personnel.
Ensure proper implementation and usage of PPE and safety equipment on site.
Maintain all HSE documentation, permits, inspection records, and statutory registers.
Liaise with clients, consultants, and regulatory authorities during safety inspections and audits.
Monitor subcontractor HSE performance and ensure compliance with project standards.
Support emergency preparedness, fire drills, and incident response activities.
Qualifications & Certifications:
Bachelors Degree in Engineering (Civil / Mechanical / Electrical) – mandatory.
NEBOSH IGC or equivalent HSE qualification – mandatory.
OSHA / IOSH certification – preferred.
First Aid & Fire Fighting certification
Knowledge of ISO 45001 & ISO 14001 standards is an advantage.
Experience Requirements:
Minimum 10 years of experience as a Safety Engineer or HSE Engineer in the construction industry.
Experience in high-rise buildings preferred.
