About the Gaza Sunbirds

The Gaza Sunbirds are Palestine’s para-cycling team and humanitarian initiative, empowering amputee athletes to serve their communities through sport and solidarity. Since 2023, the team has led large-scale aid operations, food distributions, and community resilience projects across Gaza, while continuing its mission to represent Palestine internationally in para-cycling competitions.

Scope of Work

Subject to the Assignment Instructions, if an assignment is accepted, the Video Editor is expected to complete one or more of the following by the specified deadline:

1. Video Editing Work

  • Edit and finalise one or more videos, including incorporating internal reviews and applying feedback.
  • Ensure videos meet Gaza Sunbirds’ visual, accessibility, and branding standards.

For each completed video, the final files must be uploaded to the Gaza Sunbirds shared drive in all three of the following formats:

  1. Video without music and without subtitles
  2. Video with music and without subtitles
  3. Video with music and subtitles, and without watermarks

2. Translation Work

  • Translate video content by producing accurate and time-synced subtitles, as specified in the assignment.

3. Combined Work

  • Where required, complete both Video Editing Work and Translation Work for the same assignment.

4 Content Volume Expectations

  • Edit and deliver up to 20 videos per month.
  • Prepare and edit content equivalent to 15 days of stories per month across Gaza Sunbirds’ digital channels.

5 Content Preparation for Publishing

For assigned content, the Video Editor will be responsible for:

  • Drafting captions, post copy, hashtags, and tags appropriate to each platform.
  • Preparing content in a ready-to-publish format in line with platform requirements

6 Publishing and Posting

  • Post approved content across designated platforms only after receiving approval from the Content Strategy & Editorial Lead (or designated Content Strategist).
  • Ensure accuracy, correct formatting, and adherence to posting schedules.

7 Coordination and Communication

  • Work closely with the Content Strategy & Editorial Lead and relevant team members.
  • Respond to feedback and revision requests within agreed timelines.
  • Maintain clear communication regarding capacity, delivery timelines, and any constraints

Skills

Essential Requirements

  • Fluency in Arabic and English (spoken and written), particularly for translation and subtitling.
  • Demonstrated experience in video editing for social and digital platforms.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard editing software (e.g. Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Canva, Capcut or equivalent).
  • Experience creating subtitles and translating video content accurately and clearly.
  • Strong understanding of social media formats, aspect ratios, and platform-specific best practices.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines independently.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality control.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience working with advocacy, social justice, humanitarian, or movement-based organisations.
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards, including captioning and inclusive content practices.
  • Basic graphic or motion design skills (e.g. simple animations, text overlays).
  • Experience drafting captions and copy that align with organisational tone and messaging.

  • Ability to receive and implement feedback constructively.
